Dealing with Anxiety as Christians
Anxious thoughts plague thousands of people. Despite our best efforts to put all trust in God alone, we remain fearful and stressed about situations which are out of our control. Yet, as commanded in Luke 12:25-26 (NIV), “Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?” When we are anxiously filled with terrible thoughts, we must realize our anxieties have no influence on the outcome of our worries. We have no control over many aspects of life; only our Father in Heaven has the ability to control such things. 1 Peter 5:7 (NIV) says, “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” So, the next time you are filled to the brim with anxiety and have overwhelming thoughts over things you cannot change, take a step back and give it all to God and allow Him to be the One you lean on when you are scared of the unknown. God is our all-powerful Heavenly Father, and it is He who has the power to put our minds’ spiral of thoughts at ease. When anxiety comes crashing in, remember that God’s love is never-ending and whatever trials we go through are a part of His bigger plan for us. Rather than pointlessly attempting to resolve worrisome thoughts within our own minds, allow God to wrap His arms around you and guide you through your fears.
God is always here for all His children. We must accept His love and care for us to be fully at peace with the unknown.
